HeyBike Brawn: Design and Build Quality

The HeyBike Brawn’s robust features and off-road abilities are perfectly matched by its heavy, aggressive styling. The bike’s tough exterior is a testament to its power and toughness, showing that it is made to handle even the most difficult terrains.

The HeyBike Brawn’s design, from its imposing frame to its hefty fat tires, speaks to its function as an electric bike that can take on any obstacle. The bike’s hydraulic disc brakes and front fork suspension add to its commanding presence while highlighting its capacity to deliver a comfortable and secure ride even over challenging terrain.

Hydraulic disc brakes are a significant upgrade over traditional mechanical brakes, providing riders with better braking effectiveness and improved safety on their rides. With hydraulic disc brakes, riders can enjoy increased stability and steerability, which can make all the difference when it comes to avoiding accidents or hazards on the road or trail.

On average, the braking distance with hydraulic brakes is 50% shorter than that with mechanical brakes. This means that riders can stop much more quickly and safely with hydraulic brakes, regardless of the weather or road conditions.

Hydraulic disc brakes also provide more consistent braking performance, even on long descents or in wet or muddy conditions. Unlike mechanical brakes, which can become less effective when they get hot or wet, hydraulic brakes provide reliable and consistent braking power at all times.

The HeyBike is equipped with a hydraulic suspension front fork, which provides riders with an upgraded and more comfortable riding experience, especially when riding on rough terrains. The hydraulic suspension system reduces frame vibration and absorbs shock, which makes the ride smoother and more stable.

The hydraulic suspension front fork also makes the ride more comfortable, reducing the impact of bumps and vibrations on the rider’s body. This can be especially important for riders who plan to take long trips or spend hours on their bike, as it can help prevent fatigue and discomfort.

With the HeyBike Brawn’s hydraulic suspension front fork, riders can confidently handle any terrain, whether they’re tackling steep hills, navigating rocky trails, or cruising through city streets. The hydraulic suspension system provides better stability and control, which allows riders to maintain their balance and maneuver more easily, even when the road gets rough.

The HeyBike Brawn also features a hydraulic seatpost, which allows riders to easily adjust their seat height to suit the changing terrain. This feature can be especially important for riders who tackle steep hills or varied terrain, as it allows them to quickly and easily adjust their riding position and center of gravity for better control and stability.

Another benefit of the hydraulic seatpost is that it is easy to maintain. Unlike mechanical seatposts, which can become clogged or require frequent lubrication, hydraulic seatposts are designed to be low-maintenance and reliable. This means that riders can focus on their ride without worrying about their equipment, knowing that their hydraulic seatpost will provide reliable and consistent performance.

The adaptive headlight on the HeyBike Brawn is designed to be sensitive and responsive, turning on automatically when the surrounding light levels drop. This means that riders don’t have to worry about manually turning on their headlights, which can be especially important when navigating unfamiliar or challenging terrain.

This feature is especially useful for riders who may find themselves riding in low-light conditions, such as early mornings, evenings, or during cloudy or rainy weather. The adaptive headlight can help increase visibility and reduce the risk of accidents or collisions by making it easier for riders to see and be seen on the road.

The HeyBike Brawn’s LCD display is made to be user-friendly, with simple, intuitive graphics that make it simple to read and comprehend. The display is backlit, making it possible to read it in low light, which makes it a useful addition for riders who might find themselves riding in the early morning or late at night.

The Brawn’s stable and solid construction also makes it ideal for riders who may be carrying heavy loads, such as commuters or delivery riders. The bike’s 400lb weight capacity means that it can handle a wide range of cargo, making it a versatile and practical choice for a variety of riding situations.

Brawn’s stability and solid construction are key features that make it stand out from other electric bikes on the market. With its rugged design and high weight capacity, the Brawn is a reliable and durable choice for riders who need a bike that can handle heavy loads and challenging terrain.

The 4-inch wide tires on the HeyBike Brawn also provide riders with increased stability and control. With their large surface area, these tires distribute weight more evenly, which helps to reduce the risk of slipping and sliding when riding on challenging terrain. This gives riders the confidence to tackle even the toughest trails and enjoy a fun and exhilarating riding experience.

Fat tires on the HeyBike Brawn are a key feature that makes this bike a fun and thrilling choice for riders who love to explore off-road terrain. With their increased stability, control, and unique appearance, these tires provide a truly unforgettable riding experience.

With seven different gear options, the HeyBike Brawn provides riders with more torque options, which is especially useful when climbing hills or navigating challenging terrain. The ability to shift gears quickly and easily means that riders can focus on their ride and tackle whatever challenges come their way.

The Shimano 7-speed drivetrain on the HeyBike Brawn is a key feature that provides riders with the gearing options they need to tackle any terrain or riding condition. Whether you’re facing uphill climbs or need to quickly shift gears for a fast sprint, the HeyBike Brawn’s Shimano drivetrain has you covered.

HeyBike Brawn: Motor and Battery

The HeyBike Brawn is a truly powerful e-bike that delivers on its promise of speed and performance. With its 750W motor and Class 3 speed capabilities, the Brawn can reach top speeds of up to 28 mph right out of the box, making it one of the fastest electric bikes on the market.

What sets the HeyBike Brawn apart from other powerful e-bikes is its ability to deliver on its promises. Many other e-bikes claim to be able to reach top speeds of 28 mph, but few can actually deliver that kind of performance. The Brawn is different – it has enough power and bravado to reach those top speeds with ease.

For riders who crave speed and performance, the HeyBike Brawn is an excellent choice. Its powerful motor and Class 3 speed capabilities make it a thrilling and exhilarating ride, allowing riders to reach top speeds and experience the thrill of the ride like never before. Whether you’re commuting to work or exploring off-road trails, the HeyBike Brawn is the perfect ride for anyone who loves speed and performance.

The motor cutoff switch on the HeyBike Brawn’s hydraulic disc brakes is an important safety feature that helps to ensure rider safety and control. The cutoff switch quickly and efficiently cuts off the motor when the brakes are applied, preventing any potential accidents or collisions.

However, some riders have noted that there can be a longer than usual lag of up to six pedal strokes before the motor re-engages after the brakes are applied. While this delay is designed to ensure rider safety, it can be frustrating for some riders who prefer a more immediate response.

It’s common for e-bikes to struggle on steep hills, and the HeyBike Brawn’s 750W motor faced a similar challenge during our Hill Test. However, the Brawn managed to climb to the top using both throttle and pedal assist level 5, which is a significant achievement. Many other e-bikes tend to slow down when relying solely on throttle power during uphill climbs.

Although the Brawn did not set any new records, it performed reasonably well when compared to other fat tire e-bikes that we have tested in the past. However, in our experience, the Brawn’s real strength lies in handling smaller hills with ease.

The HeyBike Brawn is equipped with a powerful 18Ah or 864 Wh battery that provides a generous range of 25-55 miles on a single charge. This range will vary depending on factors such as rider weight, terrain, and riding style, but our testing demonstrated that the Brawn is capable of covering long distances on a single charge.

In addition to its impressive range, the HeyBike Brawn also comes with a 4-amp fast charger that can fully charge a drained battery in just 4-5 hours. This means that you can quickly recharge the battery in between rides, allowing you to spend more time on the road and less time waiting for your battery to charge.

The HeyBike Brawn’s battery and charging system provide an excellent balance of range and convenience, making it an ideal choice for riders who want a powerful, long-lasting e-bike that can handle a variety of terrains and riding conditions.

Over the course of our testing, which covered a distance of 55 miles in PAS 2, our test rider gained nearly 1,280 ft in elevation. This amount of climbing is not insignificant and can have a significant impact on the range of the battery. It is possible that the difference between our test results and HeyBike’s results can be attributed to the difference in terrain and elevation gain.

HeyBike Brawn: Application

The HeyBike app allows riders to customize their riding experience and personalize the performance of their Brawn e-bike. Through the app, users can adjust the top speed of the bike, choose the number of pedal assist settings available, and tweak the strength of the motor assistance provided.

This level of customization allows riders to tailor the bike to their specific needs and preferences, making the riding experience even more enjoyable and efficient. Additionally, the app can also provide real-time tracking of important data such as battery level, speed, and distance traveled.

HeyBike Brawn: Conclusions

HeyBike Brawn seems to be a solid and powerful electric fat tire bike that is well-suited for off-road and all-terrain riding. Its hydraulic disc brakes, hydraulic suspension front fork, and 26″ x 4.0″ fat tires make for a comfortable and stable ride, while its Shimano 7-speed gearing and 750W motor provide ample power and torque for uphill climbs and speedy sprints.

The HeyBike Brawn also has a range of up to 51 miles and a relatively short charging time of 4-5 hours, which is impressive for a bike of this size and power.

However, the Brawn does have some drawbacks, such as its heavy weight and longer-than-average motor re-engagement lag after applying the brakes. Additionally, some riders may find the lack of a throttle-only mode limiting, and the cost of $1,599.00 may be out of reach for some.

Pros:

  • Powerful 750W motor and 48V 18Ah battery provide excellent performance and range.
  • Hydraulic disc brakes and suspension fork offer a comfortable and safe ride.
  • Adaptive headlight and multifunctional LCD display provide additional safety and convenience features.
  • Fat tires provide excellent traction on a variety of terrains.
  • Hydraulic seatpost and adjustable handlebars offer comfortable and customizable riding positions.
  • App allows for easy customization of speed and power settings.

Cons:

  • Heavy weight of the bike can make it difficult to transport or maneuver.
  • Long lag time for motor re-engagement after applying the brakes can be inconvenient.
  • Some riders may find the bike’s aggressive styling to be unappealing.
  • Price point may be a barrier for some potential buyers.

So, the HeyBike Brawn is a powerful and well-built e-bike with a number of convenient features. While its weight and price may be deterrents for some, those looking for a high-performance e-bike with a range of customizable features may find the Brawn to be a great option.
