Hyundai eXXcite Next: This E-Bike Completely Surprised Me!

Date:

Hyundai, the renowned automotive manufacturer, has recently joined forces with Rayvolt, a prominent electric bicycle company, to introduce an exclusive version of the Hyundai eXXite Next e-bike.

This collaboration aims to offer customers in France a unique alternative to courtesy cars, emphasizing Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable mobility. Starting from late May, the electric bicycle will be made available for customers as a courtesy car option. Additionally, interested buyers will have the opportunity to directly purchase the Hyundai edition of the Next bike from eXXite.

Electric bikes and lightweight electric vehicles are undoubtedly shaping the future of mobility. While they may not completely replace cars or motorcycles in the near future, they offer a compelling alternative, particularly for urban dwellers. The growing interest and involvement of major car and motorbike companies in the e-mobility scene provide solid evidence of this shift.

Hyundai eXXcite Next: Design and Appearance

Rayvolt, the well-known electric bicycle manufacturer, has introduced two new models to their lineup: the Hyundai eXXcite Next and Next Step. These step-over and step-through electric bicycles come equipped with innovative features designed to enhance performance and provide an extended range for riders.

The Hyundai eXXcite Next electric bike boasts a clean and stylish design, making it the perfect lightweight companion for urban commuting. Weighing in at 22 kg (48.5 lbs), with an additional 3 kg (6.6 lbs) for the battery, this electric bike offers a lightweight and agile riding experience, well-suited for navigating city streets with ease.

The lightweight construction of the eXXcite Next ensures maneuverability and easy handling, particularly in dense urban environments. Its nimble nature allows riders to navigate through traffic, navigate tight corners, and find parking spaces with relative ease. Whether it’s dodging pedestrians or gliding through narrow streets, the eXXcite Next’s design facilitates a smooth and efficient ride in urban settings.

The eXXcite Next is designed to support a maximum load weight of 110 kg (242 lbs), allowing riders of different sizes to comfortably use the electric bike. This weight capacity ensures that a wide range of individuals can enjoy the benefits of electric mobility without compromising on safety or performance.

The frame of the eXXcite Next is constructed from aluminum 6061, a lightweight and durable material known for its strength and resistance to corrosion. This choice of material not only contributes to the electric bike’s overall lightness but also enhances its longevity and ability to withstand various weather conditions. The aluminum frame provides a solid foundation for riders, delivering stability and durability throughout their journeys.

Hyundai has paid attention to detail in the eXXcite Next’s design, aiming for an overall minimalist and uncluttered appearance. This emphasis on simplicity gives the electric bike a timeless and sophisticated look, ensuring that it remains visually appealing for years to come.

Both the Hyundai eXXcite Next and Next Step models prioritize rider comfort and smoothness. The inclusion of a suspension fork and 27.5 x 1.7-inch tires ensures a comfortable and stable ride, even on uneven or bumpy surfaces. Whether you prefer a step-over or step-through frame design, Rayvolt has tailored these models to accommodate different riding preferences.

The Belt Drive system employed in the eXXcite Next offers several advantages over traditional chain drives. It provides a smooth and quiet ride, minimizing maintenance requirements and eliminating the need for regular lubrication. The Belt Drive system is also highly durable, ensuring longevity and optimal performance throughout the lifespan of the electric bike.

To ensure reliable stopping power, the eXXcite Next is equipped with mechanical disc brakes. These brakes deliver consistent and responsive braking performance, even in adverse weather conditions. With the ability to quickly and effectively bring the electric bike to a stop, riders can have peace of mind knowing they have reliable control over their speed and safety.

The eXXcite Next electric bike takes safety seriously with its built-in front and rear lights. These powerful lights provide maximum visibility on the road, enhancing safety during nighttime or low-light riding conditions. The directional light feature allows riders to adjust the direction of the beam, ensuring optimal illumination and reducing the risk of accidents.

Hyundai has also incorporated a secured seatpost into the eXXcite Next’s design. The locking seat clamp feature provides added security by allowing riders to lock both the battery and saddle with a turn of a key. This feature offers peace of mind when parking the electric bike in public areas, deterring theft and ensuring that essential components remain securely in place.

The Hyundai eXXcite Next electric bike features dimensions of 178 x 102 x 72 cm, providing a comfortable and well-proportioned frame for riders. With these dimensions, the electric bike offers a balanced combination of stability and maneuverability, ensuring a pleasant riding experience for users of various heights.

In terms of pedals, the eXXcite Next comes equipped with flat pedals. Flat pedals offer a secure and comfortable platform for riders, accommodating various types of footwear. They provide a stable surface area for the rider’s feet and allow for easy mounting and dismounting, making them well-suited for urban commuting and leisurely rides.

The overall design of the eXXcite Next reflects Hyundai’s commitment to sleek aesthetics and modern appeal. With its clean lines, the electric bike exudes a sense of elegance and simplicity. The carefully crafted frame design combines functionality with a visually appealing look, allowing riders to travel in style.

Hyundai eXXcite Next: Motor and Battery

The Hyundai eXXcite Next and Next Step electric bicycles are equipped with a powerful EPAC (Electric Power Assisted Cycle) 250W motor, offering riders an impressive 50 Nm of torque. This motor is designed to provide seamless assistance, ensuring a smooth and efficient ride. The torque sensor integrated into the system ensures that the motor’s output matches the rider’s pace, providing a natural and intuitive riding experience.

With the Next and Next Step e-bikes, riders can enjoy assistance at speeds of up to 25 kph (approximately 16 mph). This speed limitation aligns with the regulations for electric bicycles in many regions, allowing riders to effortlessly maintain a comfortable and legal pace. The torque sensor technology ensures that the motor adjusts its output to match the rider’s pedaling, providing a seamless and responsive riding experience.

For situations where extra power is needed, such as starting from a stop or conquering an incline, the Boost button comes into play. Activating the Boost button delivers full power from the motor, providing an additional burst of energy to overcome challenging terrain or accelerate quickly. This feature proves particularly useful when riders require an extra boost to confidently navigate various riding conditions.

The Hyundai eXXcite Next and Next Step e-bikes are equipped with a 36V 14Ah removable battery, conveniently stored inside the seat post. This removable battery design allows for easy charging and replacement, enhancing the overall practicality of the e-bikes. With a single charge, riders can enjoy assistance for up to 80 km (around 50 miles), depending on factors such as terrain, rider weight, and level of assistance used. This impressive range ensures that riders can embark on longer journeys or commute with confidence, knowing they have ample battery power to support their rides.

Hyundai eXXcite Next: Features

Notably, they incorporate the Intelligent Regenerative Brake Sensor (iRBS) and a back-pedal braking system, offering efficient and responsive braking capabilities. The inclusion of the iRBS technology in the Next and Next Step e-bikes is a significant advancement.

This intelligent braking system not only enhances rider safety but also helps extend the range of the electric bicycles. By harnessing energy from the braking process, the iRBS technology converts it into electrical energy, which is then used to recharge the battery. This regenerative braking system ensures that riders can maximize the efficiency of their e-bike and increase their overall range.

To provide riders with comprehensive control and information, the Next and Next Step e-bikes feature a user-friendly control panel integrated into the handlebar. This control panel allows riders to select their desired assistance level, customizing the amount of electric power they want to utilize. Additionally, it provides real-time metrics, such as speed and remaining battery capacity, enabling riders to monitor their ride and plan their journeys accordingly.

Hyundai introduces RegenFit, a patented technology that revolutionizes the concept of indoor training by converting their electric bikes into smart trainers. This innovative feature allows riders to compete against the motor of their bike, creating an interactive and challenging indoor training experience.

The adjustable resistance feature enables users to customize their workout intensity according to their fitness goals and preferences. As they pedal, the motor generates energy, which is then used to recharge the bike’s batteries, ensuring a sustainable and efficient training session.

To access the RegenFit mode, riders can utilize the EIVA App 2.0, a comprehensive companion application that offers various features and functionalities. Within the app, users can easily enable the RegenFit mode, setting the stage for an immersive and engaging indoor training session.

Hyundai eXXcite Next: Price and Availability

Priced at 3,490 Euros, or approximately $3,767 USD, the Hyundai eXXite Next electric bike positions itself as a premium offering in the market. This pricing reflects the quality, design, and advanced features that Hyundai has incorporated into the electric bicycle. While it may be considered a higher-priced option, the eXXite Next is likely to attract customers who prioritize style, performance, and cutting-edge technology in their electric mobility choices.

The French market’s strong emphasis on e-mobility, coupled with Hyundai’s reputation for producing innovative electric vehicles, creates an opportune moment for the Hyundai-branded eXXite Next electric bike to make a lasting impression. This exclusive offering aims to meet the demands of discerning consumers who value both style and sustainability, solidifying Hyundai’s position as a brand that offers comprehensive electric mobility solutions.

So, Hyundai’s collaboration with Rayvolt to introduce an exclusive version of the eXXite Next e-bike in France marks an important step in the evolution of sustainable mobility. By providing this unique electric bicycle as a courtesy car alternative, Hyundai emphasizes its commitment to environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

While the specific details of the Hyundai edition of the Next e-bike are not disclosed, it is expected to showcase cutting-edge technology and innovation, blending Hyundai’s automotive expertise with Rayvolt’s electric bicycle excellence. This partnership not only offers customers an attractive alternative for short-distance commutes but also contributes to the broader adoption of electric bicycles as a viable mode of transportation.
